Our Partners
Building a Village Together
The strength of Riverlution Tiny House Village (RTHV) comes from the relationships it has developed across Ōtautahi community, environmental, and regeneration sectors.
Tangata Whenua
RTHV have received guidance from Mahaanui Kurataiao regarding tangata whenua values and expectations across biodiversity restoration, water management, mahinga kai, and cultural recognition. RTHV are looking forward to engaging with mana whenua representatives through the newly established Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor Regeneration Committee.
Christchurch City Council
Council staff have worked alongside RTHV throughout the investigation and planning process, providing guidance on Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor goals as well as site suitability, planning, and operational considerations.
Land Information New Zealand (LINZ)
LINZ has supported the project through site investigation licensing arrangements, helping enable detailed project planning.
A key community partner working for regeneration and positive outcomes throughout the river corridor, the Avon-Ōtākaro Network has provided guidance and resources for RTHV to further our planning and relationship building for a successful establishment of the village.
Richmond’s residents’ and business association supports RTHV as an initiative that strengthens neighbourhood wellbeing and positive local outcomes. We Are Richmond has facilitated community connections, provided community feedback on RTHV’s proposal, and offered leadership and guidance to further the village towards establishment.
Avebury House is an important community hub and long-standing supporter of community-led activity in Richmond, including support for RTHV’s proposed village for an appropriate edge housing area of the river corridor.
A valued partner whose work aligns strongly with local food production, environmental stewardship, and community resilience. Richmond Community Garden have hosted the RTHV team at multiple events such as community galas, helping to connect our team with local community to provide feedback on the RTHV proposal.
Climate Action Campus has provided community engagement opportunities by hosting the RTHV team at a number of their on-site community events, and aligns with RTHV’s sustainability education, community engagement, and climate action initiatives.
The village forms part of the wider Riverlution movement, alongside organisations such as the Richmond Community Garden, Riverlution Café and Riverlution EcoHub that are helping revitalise Richmond through social, cultural, environmental, and economic initiatives.
Ara Institute of Canterbury
Ara Masters in Sustainable Practice students supported development of village planning through research into community engagement, site design, and monitoring and evaluation of resource management practices. RTHV will continue to partner with research organisations such as Ara, Lincoln University, University of Canterbury, and the Building Research Association of New Zealand to test bed and share outcomes of sustainable, creative lifestyle practices.
